Masai Mara or Serengeti — or both?
From July to October the migration masses along the Mara River, and Kenya holds the most famous crossing points. The reserve’s density cuts both ways: sightings are frequent, and so are vehicles. Our fix is the conservancy model — staying on private Maasai-owned land bordering the reserve, where vehicle numbers are capped, night drives are allowed, and your tourism dollars flow directly to the families whose land it is.
How does a two-country safari work?
Smoothly, when one team runs both halves. East African visas and the border formalities are prepared before you arrive; you are walked through Isebania or flown Nairobi–Kilimanjaro in an afternoon. Honest trade-offs
- The reserve proper gets crowded at crossing season. Conservancies fix it at a price; we’ll show you both quotes.
- Two countries mean two sets of park fees and a little more logistics cost. Under 8 days, one country almost always serves you better.

When are the Mara river crossings?
Broadly mid-July to early October, peaking August–September. Exact timing tracks the rains — in dry years the herds arrive early and leave late. We watch the ecosystem year-round and place you by the current year, not the average one.
Is Nairobi worth a stay?
One well-planned day, if your flights allow: the elephant orphanage, giraffe centre and a great dinner. Otherwise we treat it as a friendly connection — met at the aircraft door, as our guests’ reviews describe.
