It depends which country-in-one you want. For Kruger safari, the dry winter (May–September) when thin bush and scarce water make game easy to spot. For Cape Town, the Garden Route and the winelands, the warm, dry summer (November–March). June to September is whale season along the Cape coast. The classic compromise for a combined trip is September–October, decent for both bush and Cape.

Honest trade-offs
- The wilderness feels more managed than East Africa or Botswana. Private Kruger reserves deliver superb, close big-cat sightings — but the sense of raw, endless wild is stronger further north. Different pleasures.
- It rewards more time. Trying to do Kruger, Cape Town, the Garden Route and the winelands in a week is a blur. Ten to fourteen nights lets each chapter breathe.
- Distances between highlights are real — but the internal flight network is excellent, so we fly you between regions rather than burning days on the road.

Private reserve or Kruger National Park?
